Mindful Fitnessis a 6 week one-on-one Physiotherapy program designed to help you strengthen both your mind and your body– together. By combining the physical (stretching, strengthening) along with the mental aspects of mindfulness and meditation, this program aims to change your relationship to movement and fitness training. The mindfulness anchors of breathing, intention, form and recovery will be combined with specific exercise customised to your current goals and lifestyle.
What does the 6 week program look like? The first visit (60 minutes) will include a comprehensive Physiotherapy assessment to establish your goals, address any movement concerns you may have and develop an individualised plan for the program. Subsequent visits will be conducted weekly (twice weekly for 30 minutes each or once for 45 minutes) and can be conducted in-person, virtually or a combination based on your preferences.
What will each session include? Each session will include a combination of specific exercises based on your goals. Whether you want to improve your strength or flexibility, reduce pain, or improve your running/cycling form, a program will be designed for you. Sessions will also include meditation and breathwork techniques, mindfulness education, goal and intention setting along with recovery exercises.
What are the benefits? Combining mindfulness techniques with exercise has been shown to help control and reduce pain, promote relaxation and encourage a greater sense of mind-body connection. Additionally, it has been shown to help reduce stress and anxiety, improve emotional health and improve sleep quality and exercise performance.
What if I’ve never meditated or tried Mindfulness techniques? This program has been designed for all levels— whether you have tried mindfulness techniques before or are completely new to the practice and can be individualized based on your goals.
What is the cost of the program? Initial Assessment: $120 Follow-up visits: $75 (30 minute) or $95 (45 minute)
